NOT The Power of Intention
I subscribe to a rather eclectic collection of Blog feeds and newsletters. And, every once in a while something comes along that PINGS!
Yesterday, I received a note from Executive Coach, Mike Jay. Anyone who’s been around the coaching game knows Mike’s been there, DONE IT, done it well, and is not ordindary thinker.
Mike was promoting a little concept he calls Cynthology — or Creative Synthesis. Mike is NOT a big fan of THE SECRET. Cynthology explains why.
Take a look at his movie about it here: The Cynthology Movie.
Then, as Mike suggests, THINK ABOUT IT!

Hey there, Lyle,
Aside from the tone and voice of the movie creeping me out… I have to say I’m not a huge fan of the Law of Attraction, either.
The Law of Attraction to me is a very partial picture of a much larger path. Cynthology too, feels incomplete to me.
The context that is missing is the Divine. I know not everyone believes in ‘God’ and I think that, in most cases, the thing they are calling ‘God’ that they don’t believe in- I agree with that- don’t believe in that wierd picture of what God is.
However, without a Divine context, it’s too easy to fall into spiritual materialism, a vain striving- whether it’s through thoughts, or actions.
This is a very controversial subject, but I’ll just make that comment, and leave it there.
Thanks Mark!!
I always appreciate your ’spiritual’ perspective.
I’m not sure which movie creeps you out.
But, as I’ve Blogged elsewhere “The Secret” is too $$ focused for me.
Now, Cynthology is a whole other thing. Which I presented as a different perspective.
I agree that WE need a bigger context. As a recovering Christian fundamentalist I still struggle with my picture of God. Somehow, I still don’t get the transformation from a vengeful Yahweh to a loving Jehovah. And, let’s not even get going about the ‘treatment’ of women by the church I grew up in.
So, all that to say: YEP! A framework, a context for we human beings IS needed.
Thanks again for reading and commenting!
