Yaro Starak is one of the ‘ superstars’ — well, at least in his own eyes.

I stumbled onto his blog via my pal Andy Wibbels.

Here’s what annoys the hell out of me with Yaro and guys like him!

The headline of his latest Tips Newsletter, which just arrived in my inbox, is:

is going to make you rich Lyle

BS! Yaro!

YES, some bloggers ARE making good coin. Most aren’t. The bloggers who are making big money (and I’m not sure I trust their claims) are few and far between.

Many hypesters like Yaro make money by playing on our egos. They promote or imply you can Get-Rich-Quick. NOT!

Now don’t get wrong. Yaro has some great ideas and valuable tips. BUT, you are NEVER going to get rich quickly following his advice OR ANYONE else’s.

You WILL and CAN make money as blogger.

BUT, it take WORK and CONSISTENT CONTENT RICH .

I’m a firm believer in the notion that you should, “Do What You Love and The Money Will Follow”.

If you blog, they will come. And, OVER TIME you can make money. BUT, the key is consistency, dedication, and WORK!

Two of my most favourite experts in ONE SPOT!

From Andy’s blog:

"Conventional wisdom tells us that success is all
about perseverance. Never giving up. Sticking to it when the “going
gets rough.” After all, quitters never win and winners never quit.
Right?

Nothing could be further from the truth. Find out
why New York Times Bestselling author, Seth Godin, recommends that you
quit. And, quit right now. On Thursday, June 21st at 2pm ET,
you will learn why quitting may be the best thing you can do for the
growth of your business, your relationships, your career and your
happiness. This the strategy that Jack Welch, Olympic athletes, Apple
Computer and other greats use to become the “best in the world.”

Join us for this live call with Seth and Andy on Thursday, June 21st at 2pm Eastern Time.  On the call, you will discover:

  • Why quitting may the best thing you can do for your business (and your life)
  • How to become the “best in the world” at what you do
  • When to quit a project, relationship or idea and when to stick it out

Julia
Cameron’s
"Morning Pages" have been a powerful tool for
freeing up my creative expression.

My frustration is never seeming to have the time to do them. Nor the time to
do the I seem "called" and compelled to do.

So, I am about to embark on an experiment.

"Morning Blog Pages”

My hope is that by , at least some aspects, of what would normally
be part of my Morning Pages I will make my Muse happy.

Rest assured though that I will spare you the b-tching, sorrow, whining, and
angst that sometimes comprises too much of my Morning Pages.

Of course, I make this commitment the day before I leave for a camping weekend
– no electricity, no computer. But, one has to start when one is inspired.

I was reading my daily dose of Andy Wibbels when a commenter lamented the lack of guidance for beginning bloggers.

Thusly inspired, I say:

1. is about RELATIONSHIPS.

Yes, it’s about KNOWING the other person. Relationships GROW over time. Sure you can walk up to a gal at a party and say, "Wanna link with me?" But, is that likely to happen? NO!

Relationships take time. And, involve at least 2 people. I need to know you BEFORE we get intimate — well, that’s ME… anyways…. maybe NOT you.

2. is about CONNECTING

I want to feel a connection with you. Do we grok the same things? Do we share at least some similar values — and beliefs?

Connecting is about relationships, AGAIN. That is, do we RELATE? Are we sympatico?

3. is about GIVE then TAKE.

No. It’s not TAKE, TAKE, TAKE, then maybe GIVE.

You want something from me. I have worked hard to build a reputation — good or bad I’ve worked it. So, you want something from me…. be prepared to give. And, give before you ask to get.

That’s all for now.

More to come.

I was inspired by Dawud’s recent post "The Face Behind My Blog".

So, here’s my photo. The photo was taken this past Easter weekend by my son Matt. I’m poised on the guardrail at the edge of Elbow Falls in Kananakis country.

I tend not to like photos of myself. BUT I do like this one — the essential "Grizzly Adams" look.
