A prospective client and I were having a discussion about passion.

Someone had suggested he didn’t have any.

My response was, "BS!"

The ‘world’ at-large, particularly the American world, seems to have this notion that passion is loud, out-there — in a word, Extraverted.

As someone who has an Extraverted preference but lives in a country,  Canada , that favours Introversion, I can tell you that Passion doesn’t come in just one flavour.

Yes, Passion can be hot and fiery and spicy– like the Tango.

But, it can be measured and stately  and cool– like the Waltz.

If a Latino tells you that Passion is like salsa — it is! But, what the Latino fails to appreciate is the cool texture and comfort of the passion of the north — and the Introvert.

I like Salsa. But, I like ice cream too.

Wouldn’t the world be poorer without both.

  1. James S. Huggins says:

I like your comparison of Tango and Waltz, salsa and ice cream.

Considering myself an introvert, I’d always assumed I was not passionate.

I’m reminded of the lesson from high school physics that temperature and heat are not the same. It is possible for a fire that burns at a lower temperature to actually create more heat.

    Now you’ve got me thinking.
